BHES UPDATE

BHES provision during Covid 19 outbreak    Dear All   Firstly we currently remain open to students and are continuing to provide face to face teaching and tuition except in a small number of specific cases. This message is to explain what procedures BHES & Meriton staff will follow should we have to stop having face to face contact with students and families. If we have to close our base at Falkland Road and stop face to face contact you will be contacted by a member of Meriton or BHES staff.   The Meriton provision.   The Meriton workers will continue to follow their normal practice unless directed to stop by Hm Gov.  Where a young parent or Meriton staff member is advised to isolate contact will be continued via telephonic and web-based communication tools.   BHES provision in hospitals This will continue unless hospital managers decide that BHES staff are non- essential and so should not enter hospital buildings.   BHES provision outside of Hospitals.   Classes and 1 to 1 provision at BHES will remain open unless directed to close by Hm Gov.   Falkland Road Classes provision    Standard attendance procedures will be followed on a daily basis, any students in isolation will be contacted by BHES staff by telephone. Should Classes provision close, all students will be taught and mentored using telephonic and web-based communication tools, specific tools will depend on the hardware and software available in the student's home.  All students will receive mentoring from BHES staff daily. All students have BHES e mails to contact BHES staff, students and families will only be given BHES telephone numbers to contact BHES staff, students and families are not given personal telephone numbers, all students have specific BHES e mail addresses that are used for all staff/student e mail communication.   1:1 teaching  Where Students or BHES staff are isolating due to Covid 19 infections, suspected infections or following government advice. Students will be taught using telephonic and web-based communication tools, specific tools will depend on the hardware and software available in the student's home. All students will be contacted on days where 1:1 teaching is timetabled by BHES mirroring normal 1:1 teaching practice in BHES. All students have BHES e mails to contact BHES staff, students and families will only be given BHES telephone numbers to contact BHES staff, students and families are not given personal telephone numbers, all students have specific BHES e mail addresses that are used for all staff/student e mail communication.   All standard BHES safeguarding and engagement recording procedures will be followed using CPOMS. Additionally staff will record where teaching/mentoring has been carried out remotely rather than face to face. Standard BHES processes will be followed if a member of BHES staff is ill. Should a considerable number of BHES staff become incapacitated due to Illness the above plans will be modified in line with staffing resources available at that time. Reviews of student progress will continue to be held using remote methods, Lead tutors/workers will continue to report back to schools re student engagement and progress.   I hope this is clear and understandable, if you have any questions please talk to your lead worker in the first instance.   Jim Bowyer    18th March 2020.
